Back less than a week after a trip, I heard that Siam Angel, one of the gogo bars on Soi Twilight, has closed. That makes me one of the last customers they saw. The news does not surprise me. Siam Angel was about the worst bar I popped into in my week in Bangkok.
Fortunately, I had a much better time at other bars than Siam Angel could deliver. Customer numbers in the Soi Twlight bars were respectable – I heard that Dream Boy had a full house every night, but I didn’t go there this trip so I didn’t see for myself – and the bold shows were back after a hiatus through the low season.
But let me finish the tale about Siam Angel first.
At about 22:00 h, there was just one other customer in there when I entered. He left perhaps 3 minutes later leaving me as the only customer. There were about 12 boys working, with 7 or 8 on stage at any time, none of whom looked even remotely attractive. At some point, the music died, and the boys stood about helpless while the captain fumbled around the DJ’s console to get it going again. It took a while. There was no DJ.
I paid the tab of 220 baht and left.

Thirteen kilometres in a straight line, according to my map. Knowing Bangkok’s traffic, however, that could well mean 2 hours!
Helpfully, the Bangkok expats on the Cruising for Sex forum suggested that the best way to get to White House Spa in Lad Phrao would be to take a river taxi from the Pratunam landing.
I’ve seen those things before. They are the boats speeding past each other through narrow khlongs (canals), throwing spray 3 metres up into the air, accidents waiting to happen. Should I risk my life in the hope of sex? Of course, of course!

I’ve heard about Sauna Mania from time to time from various online forums, but only now have I found it – not that I made much effort before.
Although the nearest BTS station is Chong Nonsi, it is also within walking distance from Saladaeng station. Occupying a townhouse with a street frontage that is just 6 metres wide, it’s one of the many small saunas found all over Bangkok catering mostly to residents, rather than tourists. They are sprouting like mushrooms after a shower. Now one has opened on the opposite side of Silom Road (called Vi Vai Massage), another on Surawong Road midway between Suriwongse Hotel and PhatPhong 2 (Mantra Massage), and a third on Silom Soi 6 (Prime Massage). On my last visit, five months ago, I had noted Casanova on Soi Convent, opposite BNH Hospital.

Tall and long

“I choose the tall one,” I said to the mamasan. After enjoying the attention of 160cm twinks the last two massages, I felt like something totally different this time.
Aek was the tallest – by far – in the line-up for four guys at Fan Club. The three others were of medium height and hunkier; face-wise, at least one was more eye-catching than Aek, but as they say, variety is the spice of life. So Aek it was.
At 185 cm, Aek was certainly tall for a Thai, but otherwise, his physique was unremarkable. He was relatively slim for his height (64 kg) with no noticeable muscle development, what I’d call a Q2 type. Aged 25, he was also totally smooth, without even hair on the shin. Code 0A0. Ten years ago, there used to be a number of gogo bars along Pradiphat Soi 20 in Saphan Khwai. A typical night would have a few farang customers in each of them, so people obviously took the trouble to trek to this part of Bangkok.
There was a gogo bar called Apache (if memory serves me correctly) where the boys wore loincloths – and which became a popular destination.
Now, only Be High still has gogo, and based on a visit a couple of years back, it’s a shadow of the old scene.
Nonetheless, the soi is still quite an active place, with a number of gay karaoke bars enjoying Thai patronage. Each bar has hosts, whom you can off. Continue reading Saphan Khwai – a local hotspot…

As I mentioned in the other post about Agaya Massage, I went there with low expectations, due to less than positive reports that I have seen.
Having forgiven them for their management shambles, I’d say I had a good time.
